AFRICAN SAFARI CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT LIST

A. GUNS

• One Light Rifle (optional)
• Any of the 20 calibers for the very small game (.222, .243 etc.)
• With variable power scope, 2-7, 3-9 etc.
• With rifle sling
• 40 rounds of ammunition
• Airline approved locking hard case
• Soft gun case, or sock case
• One Mid-Range Caliber Rifle
• .270, .308, 7mm, 30-06, .338
• With Variable scope, 2-7, 3-9 etc.
• With rifle sling
• 40 rounds of ammunition (soft point)
• Two gun hard case

B.  CLOTHING

• 3 Pairs of cotton trousers*
• 3 Shirts - cotton, long sleeve*
• 1 Hunting coat or lightweight brown down jacket
• 1 Hat - your choice
• 5 Undershorts
• 5 Undershirts
• 5 Handkerchiefs
• 5 Pairs of Socks
• 1 Belt
• 1 Pair of comfortable camp shoes
• 1 Pair of lightweight leather boots  similar to bird hunting boots
• 1 Down vest or wool sweater
• 1 Pair of lightweight gloves

Laundry is done in camp on a daily basis; the iron content in the water is high, and whites will become dingy or "yellowed."

*I recommend khaki, green or dark colors made of a smooth, tightly woven material. Most hunting clothes found in the United States are suitable.

C. MISCELLANEOUS

• Chapstick
• Belt style cartridge holder
• Suntan lotion
• Sunglasses
• Extra pair of prescription glasses
• Camera with extra batteries for camera and flash
• Extra film
• Video camera (optional) take extra batteries
• Binoculars (one pair per person traveling)
• Personal travel kit ( razors, etc.)
• Candy (optional, but advisable if you have a sweet tooth)
• Small flashlight
• Dry skin lotion
• Tick repellent ( I recommend "Coulston's Duranon Tick Repellent"available from Wholesale Hunter 888-900-4868) International voltage converter (Radio Shack has several models)

D. DOCUMENTS AND OTHER

• Passport (must be valid for 6 months after your return date)
• Travel documents
• Visa - when required (not required for US Citizens in RSA )
• Reading material
• Emergency contact information
• Confirmation numbers for cars, hotels, etc.
• Money
• Medical records (none required for RSA)
